Hello everybody, and welcome back to The CW Torch! This week I will be participating in the Winter Biannual Bibliothon blog and reading challenges. The Winter Biannual Bibliothon is a week-long event, hosted twice a year by a few Booktubers, Bookbloggers, and Bookstagramers! This is the first time I am participating in this read-a-thon, and I am extremely excited. I hope you enjoy my blogposts for the week, and wish everybody good luck to whomever is participating!

The first blog challenge is to recommend books to read during a snowy-day, as Winter is here. Sadly, I live in a part of California where it does not snow, but I have read a few books that remind me of snowy winters. Or transport me back in time to when I studied abroad during the Winter, and these books remind me of those days in snowy Europe. If I did live in a snowy part of the United States; I would probably spend my day curled up next to a warm fire, in my favorite reading spot, under my favorite blanket, with a steaming cup of warm cider or mulled wine, and reading an atmospheric book. So, here are a few books that I would choose to read on that snowy day!

A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab:
If you've been following my blog for a while, then you would know that I absolutely love and adore the Shades of Magic series. I've binge-read the last three books during the Fall and Winter months, and it was the perfect series to read during those seasons. Mainly because of V.E. Schwab's incredible writing style, because somehow she manages to transport you to those four parallel London's. She creates a sort of nostalgia that is unexplainable through her writing and loveable characters. Another reason why I would recommend reading this series during the Winter time, is because of the setting. There are four different London's in this story, and one of them is called White London. White London is where magic is corrupt, and the color represents the physical attributes of this city. Snow falls pretty much every day in this corrupt, dark, and creepy London. Which somehow reminded me of my first time in Brussels, Belgium, where my friend and I saw the first sight of snow of the year for that Country. I would highly recommend this series whether you read it during Winter or not, but it made for a more pleasurable and atmospheric experience during the Winter season.

The Crown's Game by Evelyn Skye:
The Crown's Game was another book, which I happened to read during the Winter month of December. This is the perfect book to read during a snowy day, because not only is it set in Imperial Russia, where it is cold all the time. But, one of the main Enchanters of the book can literally conjure snow with their own hands. I love it when a book can transport you into its world, and Evelyn Skye did such a wonderful job at doing just that. Even though it was probably fifty-something degrees here in California during Christmas Time, I felt like I was wondering through the snowy alleyways of Russia when reading this book.

Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling:
Clearly, I am a person who loves to read fantasy during the Winter season. There is just something about books with magical elements that enhances my reading experience, during the Winter. I couldn't go a snowy day without reading a Harry Potter book. While I think any Harry Potter book would suffice to read during a snowy day. I specifically chose Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire, because of the Yule Ball chapter. It was such a fun and beautiful chapter, with Hogwarts covered completely in snow. The Yule Ball reminded me of a magical and more elaborate Christmas party, with the ice sculptures, and delicious sweets served at the party.
So, there you have it folks, my snowy-day reading recommendations! As you can tell, I love to read fantasy during the winter months, mostly because of the atmospheric qualities these books give. There is also a lot of nostalgia felt around the Winter season, with the holidays approaching. Most of these books, have given me that sense of nostalgia, which is why I think they are perfect reads for a snowy-day.
I hope you enjoyed this blog-post, as I had a lot of fun writing it. Watch out for a lot more posts this week, for the Winter Biannual Bibliothon read-a-thon. I will be posting a reading vlog, here on this blog at the end of the week, so also be on the lookout for that. Happy reading, and good luck to those participating in the Winter Biannual Bibliothon.
