Hello everybody, and welcome to another edition of The CW Torch, today is day two of the Winter Biannual Bibliothon ReadAThon. For today’s blog challenge, we had to create a Bookish Drink (alcoholic or nonalcoholic) based on a book or book character, and explain why we chose this specific drink. I thought this was an extremely fun and creative blog challenge, created by https://willreadforbooze.com/2018/01/13/biannual-bibliothon-day-2-blog-challenge-create-your-own-bookish-beverage/

I hope you all enjoy this post and delicious beverage!

The drink I chose to make, is based off of The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater, which is the book I was reading before the Biannual Bibliothon began. The Raven Boys is book one of The Raven Cycle series, and follows a clairvoyant girl named Blue Sargent. Her mother is a clairvoyant, and Blue has never seen the dead walk past until this year. When a boy emerges from the dark and speaks to her, the boy’s name is Gansey, and he’s a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys, known as Raven Boys. But, Blue is drawn to Gansey who is on a quest that has encompassed three other Raven Boys. Adam, the scholarship student who resents the privilege around him, Ronan, the fierce soul whose emotions range from anger to despair, and Noah, the taciturn watcher who notices many things but says very little. For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die. She doesn't believe in true love and never thought this would be a problem. But as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she’s not so sure anymore (synopsis on back of book).

The drink I have created is called The Henrietta Blue. It’s my take on a Hard lemonade and a Mint Julep, something I feel like the Raven Boys and Blue, would be sipping on a hot day in Henrietta, Virginia.

The Henrietta Blue Recipe:

A Shot of Bourbon - The Raven Boys seem sophisticated AF, and the type of people who would only drink Bourbon or Brandy in their Aglionby school uniforms. And it's the classic southern alcoholic drink.

One Can of Lemon La Croix - For some reason I can totally see The Raven boys drinking La Croix, they give me total hipster vibes.

A Few Sprigs of Mint Leaves - Blue mentions that one of The Raven Boys smells like mint to her, when they enter the restaurant she works at.

A Few Drops of Blueberries - Well, because our main character’s name is Blue.

I hope you enjoyed this refreshing take on a Hard Lemonade and Mint Julep, to bite that humid summer eve in Henrietta, VA. Where the ghosts come out to play at night, and The Raven Boys only lead to trouble!
