Magical OWLS ReadAThon TBR

Hello everybody, and welcome to another edition of The CW Torch. Today, I will be discussing the books I'll be reading in the month of April. As you all know, I am a mood reader, and I actually don't set TBR's all too often. Unless, I am participating in a ReadAThon, which I will be for the entire month of April. This ReadAThon is hosted by G from Book_Roast, and is titled the Magical OWL Examinations ReadAThon. It is based on the Ordinary Wizarding Level Examinations from the Harry Potter series. Essentially, there are 12 different classes/categories you can take, and there are six different passing/failing grades. The highest grade you can earn, is if you pass five classes/read five books. So, that is how many books I chose to read for this ReadAThon. If you are interested in all the details of this ReadAThon, I will link G's announcement video down below.

I will be documenting my experience of this ReadAThon in a Vlog on my Youtube Channel, which I will link at the end of this post. The ReadAThon has already begun on April 2nd, and will continue through April 29th. I have already started reading one of the books on my TBR. So, without further ado, here are the books I will be reading for the Magical OWLS ReadAThon! Good luck to those who are participating.

Subject: Astronomy- Read a Science Fiction Novel

Zenith (The Androma Saga #1) by Sasha Alsberg and Lindsay Cummings

Synopsis: This book follows our main character, Androma Racella, also known as the Bloody Baroness. But, to her all-female crew aboard the star-ship, The Marauder, she is known as just Andi. When a mission goes awry, Andi and her crew run into a sadistic bounty hunter from her past. On the planet, Xen Ptetra, a ruthless leader waits in the shadows, biding her time to exact revenge for the destruction of her people. Andi and her crew embark on a dangerous mission, that could restore order to their shipor.

Subject: Charms-Read a Fantasy

Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman

Synposis: In this popular urban fantasy, we follow a London businessman named Richard Mayhew. When he decides to help a girl in an act of kindness, he is thrust into a land beneath the cracks of London, called Neverwhere. In this London below, there are monsters and saints, murderers and angels, knights in armor, and pale girls in black velvet. A place that is at once eerily familiar and utterly bizarre, where a strange destiny awaits him.

Subject: Transfiguration- Read a Book involving Transfiguration or Shapeshifting, or a book with a cat on the cover.

Cloaked in Shadow (The Dragori #1) by Ben Alderson

Synopsis: This book follows an Elf, Zacriah Trovirn, who is concerned with two things in his life. Hunting and dodging the boy who broke his heart. He is taken into the Elven capitol of Thessolina, where he is forced into King Dailor's new legion of shapeshifters. Zacriah joins forces with new friends, who find themselves in a clash between the three Elven continents. Zacriah must learn to use his powers to fight and protect those he loves before they are destroyed.

Subject: Divination- Read a book involving a Prophecy.

The Dream Thieves (The Raven Cycle #2) by Maggie Steifvater

Synopsis: This is the second novel of The Raven Cycle Series. Which is a series following our main character, Blue Sargent, who has always been told by her Clairvoyant family, that she will be the cause of her true love's death. Blue meets a group of privileged, Aglionby school boys, called The Raven Boys. Who are on a mission to find a Dead Welsh King, and if they wake him up, he will grant them one wish. The second book closely follows Ronan Perish, the fierce soul who ranges from anger to despair.

Subject: Care of Magical Creatures- Read a book containing magical creatures or with a magical creature on the cover.

A Plague of Giants by Kevin Hearne

Synopsis: In the city of Pelemyn, Fintan the Bard takes to the stage to tell what really happened the night the giants came...
