Hello everybody, and welcome to another edition of The CW Torch! Today, I am coming at you with, yet another Read-A-Thon TBR, and this time it’s for the BookTube-A-Thon. This is my first time participating in the Booktube-A-Thon, which is hosted by BookTuber, Ariel Bisset. I was going back and forth, debating if I wanted to partake in another Read-A-Thon this month, since I’ve already participated in two this month, and plan on participating in another one in August. Clearly, the Summer is The Time for Read-A-Thon’s, and since I always have so much fun during these Read-A-Thon’s, I couldn’t pass up on this one! I won’t be stressing too much with this TBR though, because I plan to use some of the books on my TBR, for another Read-A-Thon that will overlap with the BookTube-A-Thon. So, with all that being said, let’s get into my BookTube-A-Thon TBR! BookTube-A-Thon TBR (July 30th-August 5th) Challenge 1) Let a coin toss decide your first read. I will be choosing from two books that have been on my 2018 TBR for a while now, that I’ve been wanting to read since I started this blog. Both books are the starts to two series, that I know I will love, but have been putting off, because I have been putting other series or books in front of them. But, I really want to start both of these series, and thought this was the perfect opportunity to pick up one of these books. An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

Synopsis: Neither is free. Under the Martial Empire, defiance is met with death. Those who do not vow their blood and bodies to the Emperor risk the execution of their loved ones and the destruction of all they hold dear. It is in this brutal world, inspired by ancient Rome, that Laia lives with her grandparents and older brother. The family ekes out an existence in the Empire’s impoverished backstreets. They do not challenge the Empire. They’ve seen what happens to those who do. But when Laia’s brother is arrested for treason, Laia is forced to make a decision. In exchange for help from rebels who promise to rescue her brother, she will risk her life to spy for them from within the Empire’s greatest military academy. There, Laia meets Elias, the school’s finest soldier—and secretly, it’s most unwilling. Elias wants only to be free of the tyranny he’s being trained to enforce. He and Laia will soon realize that their destinies are intertwined— and that their choices will change the fate of the Empire itself. The Diviners by Libba Bray

Synopsis: Evil O’Neil has been exiled from her boring old hometown and shipped off to the bustling streets of New York City— and she is extremely ecstatic. It’s 1926, and New York is filled with speakeasies, Ziegfeld girls, and rakish pickpockets. The only catch is that she has to live with her uncle Will and his unhealthy obsession with the occult. Evie worries he’ll discover her darkest secret: a supernatural power that has only brought her trouble so far. But when the police find a murdered girl branded with a cryptic symbol and Will is called to the scene. Evie realizes her gift could help catch a serial killer. As Evie jumps headlong into a dance with a murderer, other stories unfold in the city that never sleeps. A young man named Memphis is caught between two worlds. A chorus girl named Theta is running from her past. A student named Jericho hides a shocking secret. And unknown to all, something dark and evil has awakened. Challenge #2) Read a book about something you want to do. If you've been following me for a while now, you all know that I want to someday write and publish my own book. I hope to go to grad school for either creative writing or screenplay writing. And Fangirl is all about a girl going to college for creative writing, in hopes to start a fan fiction series of her own. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

Synopsis: Cath is a Simon Snow fan. Okay, the whole world is a Simon Snow fan… But for Cath, the whole world is a Simon Snow fan… But for Cath, being a fan is her life— and she’s really good at it. She and her twin sister, Wren, ensconced themselves in the Simon Snow series when they were just kids; it’s what got them through their mother leaving. Reading. Rereading. Hanging out in Simon Snow forums, writing Simon Snow fan fiction, dressing up like the characters for every movie premiere. Cath’s sister has mostly grown away from fandom, but Cath can’t let go. She doesn’t want to. Now that they’re going to college, Wren has told Cath that she doesn’t want to be roommates. Cath is on her own, completely outside of her comfort zone. She’s got a surly roommate with a charming, always-around boyfriend, a fiction-writing professor who thinks fan fiction is the end of the civilized world, a handsome classmate who only wants to talk about words… And she can’t stop worrying about her dad, who’s loving and fragile and has never really been alone. For Cath, the question is: Can she do this? Can she make it without Wren holding her hand? Is she ready to start living her own life? Writing her own stories? And does she even want to move on if it means leaving Simon Snow behind? Challenge #3) Read and watch a book to movie adaptation. This was a really difficult book to chose, since there are so many books that have movie adaptations that I want to read. I could’ve gone with The Darkest Minds by Alexander Bracken, because the movie adaptation comes out during the week this Read-A-Thon takes place. However, I don’t think I will be able to finish that book, before the movie comes out. So, I decided to go with Ready Player One by Ernest Cline, since the dvd release date is today (July 24th, 2018). Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

Synopsis: In the year 2045, reality is an ugly place. The only time teenage Wade Watts really feels alive is when he's jacked into the virtual utopia known as the OASIS. Wade’s devoted his life to studying the puzzles hidden within this world’s digital confines, puzzles that are based on their creator’s obsession with the pop culture of decades past and that promise massive power to fortune to whoever can unlock them. When Wade stumbles upon the first clue, he finds himself beset by the players willing to kill to take this ultimate prize. The race is on, and if Wade’s going to survive, he’ll have to win— and confront the real world he’s always been so desperate to escape. Challenge #4) Read a book with green on the cover. Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater

I won’t be going into the synopsis of this book, because it is the third installment of The Raven Cycle series. You guys know how much I love this series, and I’ve been in a paranormal mood recently. So, I thought this book was perfect for this Read-A-Thon, especially since the cover has a lot of green on it. Challenge #5) Read a book while wearing the same hat the whole time.
Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur

Synopsis: Milk and Honey is a collection of poetry and prose about survival. It is about the experience of violence, abuse, love, loss, and femininity. It is split into four chapters, and each chapter serves as a different purpose, deals with a different pain, heals a different headache. Milk and Honey takes readers through a journey of the most bitter moments in life and finds sweetness in them because there is sweetness everywhere if you are just willing to look. Challenge #6) Read a book with a beautiful spine. I have the Barnes and Noble classics edition of this book, and it definitely has one of the most beautiful spines I own on my bookshelves. It is also one of the most beautiful books I own, so I thought it perfectly fit this challenge. I’ve also been wanting to read this book for a while now, and can’t wait to get into it. The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde

Synopsis: A story of a fashionably young man who sells his soul for eternal youth and beauty. Challenge #7) Read Seven Books. One of my yearly goals for reading, was to read more Comic Books/Mangas/Graphic Novels. I have been failing at this goal, as I have not read any Comic Books, Mangas, or Graphic Novels this year. I’ve been wanting to read this Graphic Novel for a while now, and thought this was the perfect opportunity to read it. Monstress Vol. 1: Awakening by Marjorie M. Liu (writer), Sana Takeda (artist), Rus Wooton (Letterer, Designer)

Synopsis: Set in alternate matriarchal 1900s Asia, in a richly imagined world of art-deco inflected steam punk, Monstress tells the story of a teenage girl who is struggling to survive the trauma of war, and who shares a mysterious psychic link with a monster of tremendous power, a connection that will transform them both and make them the target of both human and otherworldly powers. There you guys have it, my TBR for the BookTube-A-Thon, it is a pretty hefty and ambitious TBR! But I will not be stressing too much on this TBR, since I will be overlapping this Read-A-Thon with another one that I will be participating in that same week/month. I am extremely excited to read all of these books, and we’ll see how I do during the week. If I’ll complete all of the books or none of them at all, lol. I am really excited to watch other Booktuber’s vlog’s for that week, to see how everyone else does! I am so excited for this Read-A-Thon, especially since it’ll be my first time participating in the BookTube-A-Thon. Good luck to everyone who is participating!
