Hello everybody, and welcome to another edition of the CW Torch! Today, I’ll be talking about all the books on my Charms Extra Credit TBR, which is a week-long ReadAThon, hosted by Booktuber, G from BookRoast. She has been hosting Harry Potter themed ReadAThon’s this year, and I participated in the O.W.L.’s ReadAThon earlier this year. I was planning on participating in the N.E.W.T’s ReadAThon, but unfortunately during that month I was in a reading slump, while also starting a second job at the same time. But, I am out of my reading slump, and am ready for all the Fall ReadAThon’s! So, without further ado, here is my Charms Extra Credit TBR! Here is the link to her announcement, with all the details of the week-long ReadAThon, which will be taking place, starting October 8th-14th, 2018! Charms Extra Credit Announcement Video Charms Extra Credit TBR: Alohamora: Read a book that’s first in a series The Novice (Summoner #1) by Taran Matharu

Synopsis: When blacksmith apprentice Fletcher discovers that he has the ability to summon demons form another world, he travels to the Adept Military Academy. There the gifted are trained in the art of summoning. Fletcher is put through the grueling training as a battlemage to fight in the Hominum Empire’s war against orcs. He must tread carefully while training alongside children of powerful nobles. The power hungry, those seeking alliances, and the fear of betrayal surround him. Fletcher finds himself caught in the middle of powerful forces, with only his demon Ignatius for help. As the pieces on the board maneuver for supremacy, Fletcher must decide where his loyalties lie. The fate of an empire is in his hands. Accio: A book that’s at the top of your TBR Monstress Volume 2: The Blood by Marjorie M. Liu

Synopsis: This is the second volume of a Graphic Novel series, set in an alternate matriarchal 1900s Asia, in a richly imagined world of art deco-inflected steam punk. Monstress tells the story of a teenage girl who is struggling to survive the trauma of war, and who shares a mysterious psychic link with a monster of tremendous power, a connection that will transform them both and make them the target of both human and otherworldly powers. Incendio: Words with fire or flame in the title/series name, or flame picture on cover Grace and Fury by Tracy Banghart

Synopsis: In a world where women have no rights, sisters Serina and Nomi Tessaro face two very different fates: one in the palace, the other in prison. Serina has been groomed her whole life to become a Grace—someone to stand by the heir to the throne as a shining, subjugated example of the perfect woman. But when her headstrong and rebellious younger sister, Nomi, catches the heir’s eye, it’s Serina who takes the fall for the dangerous secret that Nomi has been hiding. Now trapped in a life she never wanted, Nomi has only one way to save Serina: surrender to her role as a Grace until she can use her position to release her sister. This is easier said than done. A traitor walks the halls of the palace, and deception lurks in every corner. But Serina is running out of time, imprisoned on an island where she must fight to the death to survive and one wrong move could cost her everything. Rictusempra: A book that “tickles you the right way” (exciting trope/theme/genre) This Savage Song (Monsters of Verity #1) by Victoria Schwab

Synopsis: There’s no such thing as safe in a city at war, a city overrun with monsters. In this dark urban fantasy, a young woman and a young man must choose whether to become heroes or villains—and friends or enemies—with the future of their home at stake. Kat Harker and August Flynn are the heirs to a divided city—a city where the violence has begun to breed actual monsters. All Kate wants is to be as ruthless as her father, who lets the monsters roam free and makes the humans pay for his protection. All August wants is to be human, as good-hearted as his own father, to play a bigger role in protecting the innocent—but he’s one of the monsters. One who can steal a soul with a simple strain of music. When the chance arises to keep an eye on Kate, who’s just been kicked out of her sixth boarding school and returned home, August jumps at it. But Kate discovers August’s secret, and after a failed assassination attempt the pair must flee for their lives. Lumos: A book with a light cover The Witch doesn’t Burn in this One by Amanda Lovelace

Synopsis: The witch: supernaturally powerful, inscrutably independent, and now—indestructible. These moving, relatable poems encourage resilience and embolden women to take control of their own stories. Enemies try to judge, oppress, and marginalize her, but the witch doesn’t burn in this one. There you have it folks, my TBR for the Charms Extra Credit ReadAThon! I am so excited for yet another spectacular and magical ReadAThon, that’s perfect for the Fall time!
