Over the last couple of weeks, K-pop phenoms "Tomorrow x Together" have been teasing a collab featuring Brazilian artist, Anitta, titled "Back for More."

They showcased the song at the 2023 MTV VMA's which aired Sept. 12th, 2023, and took the internet by storm. Not only was this the first time fans, such as myself, saw the performance and heard the song. It was also Tomorrow X Together's (also known as TXT) debut performance on the VMA stage.

The performance itself was an explosion of energy, proving that TXT can sing live while simultaneously performing difficult choreography. Even though this is something K-pop fans are used to seeing from them.

"Back for More" was full of Michael Jackson references in both the sound and the choreography. As someone who grew up listening to Michael Jackson, I am happy to see that so many artists continue to find inspiration in him. The choreography was perfectly in sync and exciting for the viewers of the VMA's who may have never seen a TXT performance before. Anitta's feature was the addition to the catchy K-pop tune. It was a joy seeing her dance along to TXT's choreography, as her chemistry with the boys was perfect.

The performance was amazing and "Tomorrow X Together" proved to non-K-pop fans why they deserved to be there. They also showed why more Westernized award shows should include K-pop in the normal musical categories other than just "Best K-Pop." TXT showcased their range as artists and that they should be “ones to watch.” Another reason why they won MTV's "Push Performance of the Year"Award, an award given to artists who prove why they are making headlines and growing at rapid rates. Then on Sept. 15th, 2023, 12:00 am EST, "Tomorrow X Together," premiered their music video for "Back for More." It was a simple music video, performed on a stage and what also appeared to be a backstage area. The cinematography showcased their beauty and visuals as artists and made it seem like we were watching one of their concerts. It had the look and feel of a Y2K music video, which a lot of artists are throwing back to nowadays. Anitta showed more of her dance moves in the music video moving alongside the boys. Overall, the music video was similar to the VMA performance, as it was there to showcase their dance and choreography. In 13 hours the video has 1.3 M views and is sure to grow more.

This collaboration proved that TXT can do anything and blend a variety of different genres. I hope that viewers of the VMA's who don't listen to K-pop will see that this genre is so much more. For those who question K-pop as a genre, I hope they start to pay more attention to it as two K-pop artists proved that they deserved to be there with the other Western artists.

I don't think I'll give a rating for this music video since I am biased as a MOA, and if you couldn't tell I loved the video and the performance. I am just here to give my opinions on a genre that I have fallen in love with over the past 4 years. Since this is my first K-pop blog review, I hope you enjoyed it as there will be more to come in the future!

Thank you for reading.
